How Do I rank Number One On Google?

How Do I rank Number One On Google?

Recently, while having an online chat with one of my Facebook Business Page Followers (http://www.facebook.com/therobwilson), my friend asked me, "how do I rank number one on Google"? I thought for a minute, such a simple answer, but how many individuals and small business owners do not understand the basics of online marketing.

To answer this question, simply place yourself in the position of the online "searcher" and the entity "Google" (or other search engine), working to answer your question, in this case, "Google" (this could be another search provider, such as Ask, Yahoo, or you should consider all search providers, and they all look at the answer to 'how do I rank number one on Google', using the same approach. The answer for me, is simple, if your searcher is asking a question, and needs help, send them to an expert. It's the same approach we should use when facing any life-question, to find your best answer, go to the expert, the professional who is trained, or the professor who educates, your best answers will always come from an expert.

How do you become an online 'expert'? Well, this is the answer most asked by online marketing professionals, to become an expert simply take the time to position yourself, naturally, on a variety of websites. In fact, most experts will have their own blog or website where they discuss current trends and topics relating to their specialty or passion. These same experts will often be found answering questions online, on a variety of websites. So the answer, from my perspective, and I am sure from "Google's" perspective, is you look for someone who appears online, in a variety of places, and is offering content that is relevant and useful to others.

So to review the question of how do I rank number one on Google, first, start by creating your own website, or blog, relating to your specialty (graphic designer, genealogy, scrap booking, etc). Then, begin building an online presence. Start with searching Google for the top 20 websites relating to your area of expertise, then sign up for each website and receive emails when others post on these sites. When applicable, take time to answer questions on these sites, or post comments to other people's questions, and be sure to end your salutation with YOUR information. Your information should always include a link to your website, your name, your moniker, and links to all of your online information (a Facebook business page, Linkedin profile, Google+ profile, etc.). Note, some sites will limit the information you place in your salutation, so be sure to read each sites, term's and conditions. What you are doing, in essence is creating backlinks to you and your websites, and inadvertently creating 'value' to Google and other web crawler's. When you write a post, make sure it complies with SEO guidelines. My best suggestion is to search the term 'how to create an SEO relevant webpost, and learn the exact steps necessary to create, SEO relevant webposts.

Continue to do the above steps, every day for 3-6 months, and see if you begin to see a rise in visitors to your website. Also, do a Google search on the term 'how do I rank number one on Google', and see if your website or blog is appearing in the top listing, first page, etc. Continue to place yourself in the position of 'the customer', add online value and watch your ranking increase.

There are many other strategies that help increase a rise in search rankings. If your business demands your constantly be on top of all searches, hire an SEO expert. These companies will work with you with specific strategies to increase your rankings.

Best efforts to change your web traffic into Customers!

Posted by Bob on October 27, 2014 at 12:05 AM Comments comments (0)

Do you place a lot of your efforts into receiving website traffic? Have you spent countless hours working on an email capture process, social media 'fan' page, conducting SEO analysis of your website or blog content, just to place yourself higher in Google's rankings?

It's amazing the time spent by online marketer's, trying to send visitors to their website or blog, hoping this visitors will 'stick'. Have you been guilty of doing the same?

What actions are you taking to turn these visiting 'prospects' into 'customers'. In this article, the term customer can mean multiple things. A customer should be someone who is interested enough in your website's information, so that the visitor will either 'bookmark' your site, sign up via email, or purchase / download your information. It is my hope that a visitor will do all these things, but have you thought about just how many customers you have lost, simply because your content or 'call to action' is missing.

Consider this, if you are not doing your best efforts to supply 'answers' for visitors, your website visitors will simply move on, seeking to find their information elsewhere. What are you doing to create a website experience that 'delights' your visitor?

Take a minute and place yourself in the visitor's view, you are searching online for something, something important, ask yourself, "what am I doing to create delight with my visitors?" Are you providing valuable content on the first page of your blog or website? Remember, you have only one chance to gain a visitors attention, and that chance is the first 10 seconds when a visitor hits your page.

Are your colors appealing? Is your font easy to read? Are your picture placements perfect? Visitors will not settle for 'ok', when seeking a website, no matter how wonderful your information is, customers always look at the 'form' and 'fashion' of your website to create a first impression.

However, first impressions are just basic necessities in today's online marketing arena. Have you taken that extra step to satisfy the customers quest for information? It is important to ask for the customer's email, but is your need to collect their email so obnoxious that customer's just close your page and move to another?

Are you providing 'value-add' information? Value-add is simply the ability to download, without harassment, an informational e-book. Value-add can be as simple as doing a wonderful review of a helpful, Amazon, book and then, offering a link to this e-book.

Often times our need to collect customer's information overshadows that very basic needs of our customer. Remember, the visitor will come one time only, except if you provide a wonderful experience. Are you harassing for information? Does your website mislead visitors or misdirect them to relentless, repeated offers that will not allow your page to close? I promise you, if you are really working to gain new followers, you need to place yourself in your customer's position. Online sales and marketing is NO different than traditional sales and marketing channels. The secret is simple, place yourself in your customers place and make sure your are delighting your visitors and providing an experience that is wonderful and fulfilling.

From a working point of view, utilize web analytical tool, such as Google analytics, and study your statistics to determine what pages customers are looking at. Also, see if there are some pages which customers never visit. Where are your customers leaving your webpage? Statistical data will often help web owners find broken links or other missed processes that are leaving customers lost.

In summary, your website must perform at peak, 'delightful', performance from every angle. Provide immediate, pleasing, valuable information, and combine your efforts with a fully and precise customer navigational experience. Insure all your site is well tuned so that you capitalize upon your traffic efforts.

Ethical email marketing

Posted by Bob on September 3, 2013 at 4:40 AM Comments comments (0)

This week I've been bombarded with an exceptional amount of, what I consider to be, unethical and almost insulting emails. Why do I say this? In a normal week I receive my share of solicited Internet marketing related emails. Yes, as an Internet Marketer, I do subscribe to many of my piers newsletters and weekly emails. I do this because I know it is"best practice" to read what my friends are working on for the week.

I love reading the hot topics, issues, and learning about new products or services which might help me or my fellow man marketing friends. . This week I've noticed a sad trend in the content of many of my inbox emails; many of these emails I am finding to be flat out lies and also contain deceptive information. I recall several emails telling me that my bank had a deposit error. I was missing deposits on several of my affiliate programs.

I must admit, these were exceptionally well written emails, and they did cause me to react, but I reacted not as the sender intended. I feel foolish knowing that because of one email I spent several hours on the phone and computer trying to research the possible problem, only to find out I had fallen for a unscrupulous email marketer. . I do want to express how important it is, that as Internet marketing leaders, we remain true, professional and honest in all our activities including the content in our articles and emails. Yes, I did act on the senders email, but my action was simple, I unsubscribed to their list. I also sent the individual a personal email trying to explain my concerns, although I did not hear back and assume my email was quickly deleted. .

Our actions, good or bad, do cause reactions (Newton's theory of movement), and more importantly, our online content represents us. For many of us, or name is our brand. If we generate bad content, eventually we lose subscribers, and many times we generate negative comments about our conduct on other people's blogs, forums and websites. . From an SEO and Google algorithm point of view, the buzz on the street tells us that Google is not only seeking quality content, but now Google is ranking sites by authority, or by the writers authenticity. How they do this is beyond my scope of understanding, but I can encourage each of us to use exceptional, value-added, content, combined with positive professionalism. Even if the algorithms can't detect kindness, prospects and subscribers can detect professionalism. Oh, and like myself, when confronted with unprofessionalism, they simple delete their subscriptions and find another marketer. .

My goal is to help others grow in their online business, however, I do want to emphasize the power of our words. We each might be surprised as to the number of prospects who respond to a well thought out, educational, warm-hearted, and professional article or email. I finish by saying that I hope my words inspire others to publish quality, professional content. It is easy to hide behind the digital walls of the Internet, but even behind these firewalls and take users, people all respond to this, "treat others as you wish to be treated".

Until next time, Kind regards, Bob P Wilson, Pay IM Forward.

In order generate an income, you will also have to focus on marketing. You won’t get very far if you sit around and hope people stumble upon your blog. A good way to do this might be to write about things that are easily searched or to leave comments on other blogs with a link to yours. It is also worthwhile to consider integrating your blog with an existing website.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is rooted in content, and will enhance your search results, however, look into free plugins offered by blogging platform you’ve chosen. Most plugins help you to choose more effective keywords, as well as make suggestion to help improve your posts’ SEO.

Advertising your products or other products has been a way other bloggers have launched successful blogging careers. Pictures

People love pictures, if you are writing about cooking, for example, be sure to include lots of pictures! People generally scan online rather than read blocks of text. If you include pictures, it is more likely to pique their interest. People are unlikely to read every single word on the page, using pictures is a great way to enhance your content and intrigue the viewer.

Witty Titles

Witty titles are challenging, it is something that I struggle with every time I write. You want it to be catchy and to grab someone’s attention, you want it to be something they see in their search results that interests them and makes them want to read your blog. There is no easy way to ensure you will get a clever title each time. It might be helpful to bounce ideas off of your friends of family to see which grabs their attention.

Social Networks

Use Facebook and Twitter to your advantage, and don’t be afraid to plug yourself. This is key to getting your name out there and acquiring a wider audience of readers. With social media, your followers will help do the promoting for you by sharing and commenting on your posts.

Regularity

You should be prepared to consistently create good work on regular basis. This can be difficult, but if you are looking to make your blog into a business, you have to treat it as a business. It is unlikely that you will be able to post a new article every day, although if you can, by all means, do so! Aim for twice a week – that gives you ample time to draft, write and edit your articles, and will show that you take your writing seriously.

Some parting words: Blogs don’t have to make money, but if you want an income from blogging, this requires a bit more rigorous commitment to your writing. As I said, treat blogging not as a hobby if you want to make it a business. You should put the same dedication and commitment you would into any other career.

The Future of Marketing and Selling....

The ability to collaborate with individuals and groups around the world is one of the greatest gifts offered by the new breed of online tool. These tools, and perhaps the web in general, are evolving to become more interactive and feature rich.

With the eventual adoption of HTML5 and its heavy support for AJAX, web pages are quickly becoming web applications in a foreshadowing of the next standard for web sites. Take note of these new tools as they will usher in the expectation that all sites begin to function instead of merely house information.

Below are 5 new breed collaboration tools making heavy use of HMTL5.

Groupzap – This one wins the coolness award in my book, but offers a really powerful set of tools for instant collaboration and brainstorming meetings and white boards on the fly. Marry it with Skype and you have a no cost tool that is hard to beat. You can drag files into the space, document with notes and save the entire session as a PDF. Nobody has to register you just send out a link via IM or email.

Microsoft Office Web Apps – (okay, this one probably doesn’t use HTML5 as IE doesn’t add support for it until IE9, but it still fits the new breed label) – Using the Office Web Apps and SkyDrive you can open a document with a group of people and co-author and edit in real time with the entire group participating, making changes and viewing the changes live.

Google + Hangouts – One of the most talked about features of the much talked about Google + is Hangouts – a video chat function that allows you to invite or simply host an on the fly group video meeting. (There is now a Facebook plug in that mirrors this and you can add a Group Meeting plug in to your own WordPress blog)

TalkWheel – TalkWheel is an instant messaging platform that works more like a roundtable discussion than the linier stack of the typical IM. It actually create a visual representation of the conversations and filters and relates topics. Looks like a very cool way to keep track of conversations from around the web and I can see lots of focus group and brainstorming uses with its visual presentation.

Vokle – I’m probably stretching how some might view collaboration with this one, but I just love what you can do with Vokle. Vokle is actually a live streaming video platform, but it makes it very easy to have two people present or invite virtual guests to create a talk show kind of feel. You can also share a computer screen as the guest to flip back and forth from live presenter to slides or images. The entire stream can be recorded for future playback as well.

Changes to Keyword Rich Domain names and Google

Matt Cutts, the well known Google engineer outlines why individulas should not be too concerned regarding registering a new Domain name that is keyword intensive. This use of Keywords in domain names is a current SEO strategy that appears to have run it's course.

Matt explains that perhaps it might be a better corporate or affiliate approach to use a branding technique when creating Domain names. He states many companies and website owners have been very successful in using this branding technique as opposed to a keyword Domain naming approach.

During his recent discussion, Matt explains that many SEO managers have been relying on the keyword in the domain name to do the majority of the work for their website.

Matt states, "If you are still undecided, let me give you a look into the future. We have looked at the rankings and the weights that we give to keyword domains and many people have been complaining that we have been giving too much weight to keyword domains and some people have complained that we were giving a little too much weight for keywords in domain names. We have been thinking about adjusting the mix a bit and adjusting the algorithm so that, given two different domains, the algorithm would not necessarily help you as much to have a domain name with a bunch of keywords in it."  ~ Matt Cutts

Is it time to make SEO keyword changes? If you are fortunate to obtain a keyword rich domain name, which has been the primary source of your top search ranking, then the free ride may soon be over. For those who have managed to integrate SEO keyword rich techniques throughout their websites, they will continue to have success.

It's the factors of a website or blog that help search engines find them and see their relevance to the subject of search. Some factors are out of your control, like total number of visitors.
